Mayor Lord's House guests are also welcome to come over to the the Carriage House grounds for Croquet, Bocce, Swimming, Birdwatching, Relaxing, Reading or Eating (breakfast or dinner takeout) at one of the many "outdoor" spaces or in our Carriage House pool area.
The exceptions to grounds/pool use would be if there is a private event booked for grounds or pool. In those cases event times would need to be respected and another time chosen.
- Mayor Lord's is a 1920’s home with original Craftsman-style woodwork throughout, built by Lewis L. Lord, Mayor of Meadville 1901 to 1904. His Grandfather, Samuel L. Lord, an early Meadville settler, gave 20 acres of land in 1820 for the founding of Allegheny College. Allegheny's Bentley Hall and the "old campus" are situated on this gifted land. Also on campus Lords Gate was built in honor of Samuel Lord.
- The Carriage House was built in 1860 and is what was called the "Old Farm" serving as the main carriage house for two grand mansions on Terrace Street, the Baldwin Reynolds House and the Huidekoper House. This very large and grand carriage house is located on the interior of the block -a true hidden gem.
