History:
Mayor Lord's is a 1920’s home with original Craftsman-style woodwork throughout, built by Lewis L. Lord, a Meadville Mayor from 1901 to 1904. His grandfather Samuel L. Lord, an early Meadville settler, gave 20 acres of land in 1820 for the founding of Allegheny College. Allegheny's Bentley Hall and the "old campus" are situated on this gifted land. Also on campus Lords Gate was built in honor of Samuel Lord.
The Carriage House was built in 1860 and is situated on what was called the "Old Farm" serving as the main carriage house for two grand mansions on Terrace Street, the Baldwin Reynolds House and the Huidekoper mansion. This very large and grand carriage house is located on the interior of the block -a true hidden gem.
