Relaxation: A Library, a Great Room or a Sunken Garden, this “Old House” has lots to offer… Find your perfect space to sit and relax whether your on-line, reading or enjoying a glass of wine. During the summer months enjoy one of our three separate outdoor spaces, or choose a room with a private deck.
Walk path to Carriage House: Mayor Lord's House guests are also welcome to come over to the the Carriage House grounds for Croquet, Bocce, Swimming, Birdwatching, Relaxing Reading or Eating (breakfast or dinner takeout) at one of the many "outdoor" spaces or in our Carriage House pool area.
Exceptions: The exceptions to grounds/pool use would be if there is a private event booked for grounds or pool. In those cases event times would need to be respected and another time chosen.
History: Mayor Lord's is a 1920’s home with original Craftsman-style woodwork throughout, built by Lewis L. Lord, a Meadville Mayor from 1901 to 1904. His grandfather Samuel L. Lord, an early Meadville settler, gave 20 acres of land in 1820 for the founding of Allegheny College. Allegheny's Bentley Hall and the "old campus" are situated on this gifted land. Also on campus Lords Gate was built in honor of Samuel Lord.
